Meet Jenny Drumgoole

Main Line Art Center is proud to announce our 2017 Digital Artist in Residence, Jenny Drumgoole. Selected by Main Line Art Center's Artistic Advisory Board through a competitive application process, Drumgoole is a Philadelphia video-based performance artist who inserts herself into marginal spaces for pseudo-celebrity within popular culture. Her most recent work involves physically and virtually infiltrating competitive events with subversive art actions, which are meant to question our obsessions with celebrity, desire and the limits and illusions of individuality in popular culture.

Drumgoole received her B.A. from Fordham University in New York and M.F.A. from Yale School of Art in Connecticut. Her performances have been exhibited at numerous spaces including The Keswick Theater in Glenside, PA, Vox Populi in Philadelphia, PA, BHQFU in New York, NY, Soho 20 in New York, NY, The Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, OH, San Diego Women’s Festival in California, Dallas Video Festival in Texas, Artcore Gallery in Toronto, Canada, The Center for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv, Israel, and The New York Underground Film Festival. She was a 2015 United States Artist Fellowship Nominee and a discussion of her work, “The Cream Cheese Contest”, can be found in the recently published A Companion to Public Art, Wiley-Blackwell Press (2016).

DON'T MISS: Jenny Drumgoole’s Digital Artist in Residence debut at the Happily Ever After Opening Reception on Oct. 13 from 5:30-8pm.

Digital Artist in Residence for 2016

Meet Leo Hylan

Main Line Art Center is proud to announce our 2016 Digital Artist in Residence, Leo Hylan. Selected by Main Line Art Center's Artistic Advisory Board through a competitive application process, Hylan works in a plethora of media including programming, photography, filmmaking, video art (installation and VJ), and electronic music.

Based in the Baltimore area, Hylan has shown internationally, and primarily exhibits his work throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. He received his BFA in New Media from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and both an MAT in Arts Education and an MFA in Digital Arts from Goucher College (Baltimore). He is currently an instructor at the First Magnet School in Annapolis, MD as well as on the Board of Directors at The Chesapeake Arts Center in Baltimore, MD.

Hylan's experimentation with technology has led to fantastic results. Interactivity is a main focus in his work, where the installation only comes to fruition when the viewer activates it. Hylan mixes old and new forms of digital media together in order to display the rapid changes it has undergone. His work is invested in the ever-evolving way society interacts with and responds to technology.

DON'T MISS: Panorama 2016 Festival featuring Leo Hylan's projections on Oct. 22 at 5 pm, and look for his special workshops coming in 2017!
