Accessible Art Programs

Since 1964, Main Line Art Center’s Accessible Art Programs for adults and children with developmental and physical disabilities, at-risk youth, and low income families have encouraged thousands of individuals to explore their imagination and creativity through the visual arts. Led by caring and experienced Teaching Artists and dedicated volunteers both onsite at Main Line Art Center and in partner locations, these programs offered free or at a very low cost. Participants flourish as they experience the sense of accomplishment and joy that comes with creating art that inspires them, while learning crucial cognitive, motor, and social skills that they will draw upon for the rest of their lives.

Our Accessible Art Programs truly exemplify our mission of Art for Everyone. Recognized as a pioneer in the field for our 50+ year commitment to inclusion and strong history of exemplary programs, we are proud to serve as a resource for organizations around the world.

I don’t ever feel sad when I am at Main Line Art Center. Everyone is nice…really nice. I feel like I can really be my best self, and feel proud, when I make beautiful things, even if they don’t always turn out the way I thought they would. I feel like the art center is my second home, and that feels good. I love it there!

—Emily, Student in MLAC’s Accessible Art Program for Artists with Disabilities
