Artistic Development: Part I: Informed Perception; Presented by the Violette de Mazia Foundation
Date: Jan 14, 2010 - Apr. 15, 2010
Time: Thursdays, 1-4 pm
Location: Main Line Art Center
The average art museum patron spends more time reading a painting’s description then actually looking at a painting. Join us for an educational journey which will teach you how to read the painting instead of the description. Learn why artists capture our imagination decades or even centuries after their work was created. This course introduces participants to the objective method for the appreciation of the art in art and in everyday experiences. Developed by Violette de Mazia, this method allows students to experience works of art directly, make aesthetic discoveries, and undertake personal and independent analyses of works of art. Forty-two (42) Act 48 credit hours are provided through the sponsorship of the Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts upon completion of this course.
14 wks, $150 registration fee. Please contact the office for an application or visit the Violette de Mazia Foundation website by clicking here. |
